Thanks for that .. ya know sometimes it is better to see for yourself rather than going by the templates IYKWIM? I look forward to having a peek!

Here's the cover:

And a couple of the pages. Note the journalling close to the border. I forgot to change it on the occasional page. The pages are a lot clearer IRL - I've only photographed them at low res.

Textured paper shows up beautifully:

This page is a good example of the border cropping. Here's what they printed:

And here's my digital file copy:

So you see they didn't cut much off at all. And the colour is pretty much close to the digital copy. My camera lightened it a bit much.

Oh WOW thanks so much for that. I suppose for as long as I keep "important " things away from the punched holes then I'll be fine. I think I may go for a lay flat book afterall. I LOVE your 12 months page OMG She is just too darn cute!!!

thanks so much for showing this for reference. It's helped me heaps!!

Oh wow Jacinda your book looks FABULOUS! Loving your 12 month page to bits!

My eldest DD is finishing Grade 7 this year and I am thinking about doing a photo book to present to her at Christmas recording her Primary School years - so I really appreciate seeing how your book has come out!

I've had books printed with MyReflections and Momento (www.momento.com.au). They are very similar. I printed A4 and they had much the same options.
Momento has 210x210 (8"x8") photo books for $80 + $1 per page (but they have no 12"x12" option).
I found that Momento
*was more expensive
*has brilliant page LO software if you want ideas on how to place your photos on your page (I use it just to plan my regular pages!)
*had robust hand bounding
*the print was possibly marginally better
*the dust cover was more vibrant
but
* they did not trim the pages as neatly - a bit crooked, sometimes left white edges when the design had the photo going right to the edge, required a larger crop.
* the binding was a little loose - I could see the actual stitches and I could see the area between the pages which was white (past the edge of the photos)

So MyReflections was
* cheaper
* so very close to just-as-good
* much more precise with the page cropping
* a great option if you're doing your own page designs and don't need clever page layout software

I love all my books!!

Esther

Jacinda, your photo book looks lovely I wish I had your creative talent. As for printing companies I've heard good things about Mixbook, but haven't worked with them. Personally, I was very happy with Red-Fly (red-fly.com) because they have reasonable prices (Mixbook is pricier) and I was pleased with the quality of the print. Tip: always choose premium paper regardless of the company you go for, the price difference isn't so big, but there's a huge difference in the quality of the paper.
Hope this helped

i also agree with all suggestions as i also recently had my photobook of size 8x8. with atlest 200 photo graphs in it and with hard bound cover in it. i would recommend photobook as its must cheaper and safer to keep than individual photographs copy
