World Environmental Day

This is an actual thing, and the UN uses it to encourage environmental awareness & action… you guess it… world wide. Each year there is a different theme and a different host country. This year’s theme is Air Pollution, hosted by China. You can check out the website here. I poked around the site quite a bit, even tried to share it with the man – who already knew it existed 😛

The environment has actually been a popular topic of late in our house. My husband is back in college and working on a Bachelor’s degree in… something. I admit, that tidbit of info went in one ear and out the other, immediately filed in “I can’t retain this information right now because there are 6 other things going on”. I know, bad wifey. 😛 The fact that he’s currently taking an Environmental Science class right now, though, has not been lost on me. He talks about it a LOT, and is trying to change our non-earth-friendly ways.

There has been a lot of eye-rolling.

And I do mean a LOT. I’m very proficient at it. Just ask my mother if you don’t believe me, she’ll tell you. *Eye Roll*

However, a lot of the stuff that he is changing in our house makes sense, so I’m not as eye-rolly as I once was. Honestly, I didn’t think he’d be so into any of his classes, let alone this particular class. As a bonus, he’s saving us money with these changes he’s making. Not that he believes that. That’s a little “I told you so” I can’t wait to throw at him, LOL!

I’ve re-ignited an interest in getting things growing on our back porch, and eventually we’ll have a little vegetable garden. We currently cannot agree on which vegetables, but radishes are definitely on the list because my husband successfully grew them when we lived in Mississippi, lol.

And the youngest has been quite successful at sunflowers, so, we’ve started with lavendar, marigolds, morning glories, sunflowers and aloe.

Plants make clean air, right? Isn’t that how it works? I’m sure I’ll get more information than I need soon, as hubby’s current topic in class is air pollution (ironic?).

And that got me looking for gardening products in the shop, because I will eventually need to scrap these photos, and more, of our planting adventures. Here are a few of the ones I found on the 17 pages of “garden” search results
