Thrifty Thursday

About a month ago, I got a wild hair, dragged the big plastic bin of family photos out of storage (aka, the garage), and started hanging photos up on the walls. We rent, and my husband is always paranoid about holes in the walls when we move again, so he doesn’t like it when I hang stuff 😛 After several moves, tho, he’s realized the property managers and owners we have dealt with are just so over the moon happy that we cleaned the place top to bottom before handing back the keys, they don’t care about those tiny little holes. When he got home from work the day I started hanging stuff up, he went on a 10 minute gripe about holes in the walls… and then got over it, lol.

However, I found that over the course of the 13 years and the 4 major moves we’ve done since I first packed that bin, despite how carefully that bin was packed, the glass has broken out of many of the frames. Yes, this was the first time I’ve opened the bin since our first big move in 2006 😛 Before I threw those frames out, I did a google search to see if there were any cute DIY ideas that I could do with those now empty frames… and was not disappointed, lol!

We aren’t big on makeup in this house, but this was the first thing that caught my eye. I’m sure I could find something to glue magnets onto to make something as cute as this:

How adorable are these denim pockets??

This seems to be a BIG thing across the internet waves, and I know I have loads of photos that I could sift through and display like this:

YES! I love this idea… I am forever misplacing my glasses…

I love this idea for my daughter’s room. She has a LOT of earrings (she owns more pairs of earrings right now than I ever have in my entire life) and several necklaces that would look really cute stored like this. I think this idea just went to the top of the list!

This key holder is a neat idea, too. It’s a great way to keep all of the keys in one spot so we don’t have to track anyone down for a set when we need to play musical cars in the driveway!

Do you have any frames laying around that could use a DIY idea? Did you have any particular ideas in mind? I’d love to hear about them!

I love the ideas, especially the one with the keys! I used an old window with paint peeling , added old stuff I found at antique stores to it, then put a layout, pictures and things found at the beach on it. Turned out quite nice. Pictures and layout were of my daughter and granddaughter when they were young. Lord fun doing it!!
