Technique Tuesday: No Photo Layout
One of my favorite layout ‘styles’ is the no photo layout. I don’t always have my camera out. I rarely have my camera out. I should really wear a body cam all the time. I’m too busy enjoying the moments we have to be worried about taking pictures that happen in those moments. Sure, I get it out when there’s an occasion happening (birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, etc), but for the little moments, I have to be able to catch these yahoos unaware in order to get those photos that don’t involve cheesy grins and silly faces. It never fails. “Oh, look, a camera – let me stick my tongue out and cross my eyes!” Sigh.
We can still scrap those little moments, even without photos, by using our words – some great journaling and title work can go a long way in helping tell part of your story. For example, we are big Queen fans. Any time somebody says (or even sings) the word “mama”, we all break out into a chorus of “ooo-o-o-ooo”. I could take a photo, but the photo alone wouldn’t tell the story… and it happens so often, lol, that would be a LOT of photos! Instead, I created this page:
Another example. Julie (Mother Bear) has this page in her gallery…
She didn’t need a photo to tell this little piece of her story. Between her journaling and the word strips she used, we know what’s going on.
No photo layouts can be about ANYTHING that’s going on in your life. I’m a big lister. I love lists. So why not a list about me?
This was a challenge layout, but it certainly explains how my brain can, and often does, work
This pretty layout by Ozegirl tells us that violets are her favourite flowers. I didn’t know that, did you? If that bit of journaling wasn’t on her layout, it would just be a pretty layout.
No photo layouts can be inspirational…
They can be used for scrapbook cover pages
And they can just be decorative
This one I scrapped, framed and hung by my front door 🙂
So even if you don’t have a photo to scrap for a particular moment in your life, don’t be scared to scrap it anyway with some journaling. You might be surprised by the piece of art you create!
