Tipster Tuesday
Happy Tuesday to you! This week I’m following up on last week’s Time Management post on Tuesday with another EXCELLENT way to keep track of your life – past, present AND future. It’s called Bullet Journaling (BuJo).
What is bullet journaling?
The Bullet Journal is an analog system created by Ryder Carroll, a Designer based in New York. In his words, the Bullet Journal is meant “to help you track the past, organize the present, and plan for the future.” It’s an amazing system that keeps a record of everything you could ever want to toss at it.
If you’re interested in starting a bullet journal, or have started and dropped it like a hot potato because it seemed too overwhelming, GO READ this web page. I’ve also added some youtube videos below on how several people set up their journals, so you can see it in action. The last one I did (several years ago) was super simple, and if I could find it, I’d show you a few pages out of it. It’s in a box … somewhere… along with a few smashbooks the kids and I did.
Analog productivity methods like bullet journaling have an advantage over digital tools: better retention. Writing by hand engages multiple senses — visual, kinesthetic, and tactical — which helps commit tasks to memory. It also signals to your brain that your goals are important, making you more likely to follow through.
Basically, it’s a WRITTEN scrapbook of your life. You can customize it to your needs, decorate it, add photos, doodle in it, and be as creative as you want. My time management system now is similar to bullet journaling but extremely simplified for the ‘now’. I can look back on my daily to-do lists, but it does nothing for my future self.
I’d love to get back into bullet journaling – the initial set up takes a bit of time that I don’t personally have right now, BUT HeatherT is making things easier by releasing several digital BuJo products today!
(Shhhh…. These are hidden still until release this afternoon, but I secret squirreled the links for you so you can get a jump on your shopping!)
Aren’t they great?? I can’t wait to see what she creates next! I hope you’ll check them out while she has them on sale. I can totally see myself coloring in those titles, and I adore the watercolor splashes!
Happy bulleting!
