Wordy Wednesday

Happy Wednesday, Scrappers. Not only is it Wednesday, but it’s also EARTH DAY today. I hope you’ll spend a little time making our world a better place – take a walk and pick up some trash, clean up your yard or anything else that improves the view in your part of the world. This quarantine has actually been good for the earth in a lot of ways – less traffic and less pollution just to name a couple. THAT is something we should carry with us when life returns to a more normal condition.

I married my Dutch hubby 21+ years ago. He’s very concerned about the environment, and not creating waste. So, one of the first things he asked me to do was to take my my own shopping bags to the store. I happily did that and it has just become normal for me. Can you imagine how many plastic bags I haven’t had to use in 21 years? I’ll admit that right now, I am not taking my own bags to the grocery store because of the virus. But, that’s the exception. I can’t remember the last time I bought paper towels – I have lots of fabric hand towels, so I don’t need them. We try to only buy things that have packaging that can be recycled. There are lots of little changes that you can make that will have a big difference.

So, to celebrate earth day, I challenge each of you to MAKE ONE CHANGE. Most states in the US still provide plastic bags…but ya know, if we stop using them, they won’t need them. Do you buy plastic water bottles? Hey, now is a great time to start using a refillable bottle. Get you some nice hand towels, and stop buying the paper products. Plant a tree, or even improve your own view of the world by planting a few flowers or vegies! Every little change helps!

Let’s take care of this earth. It needs to be around for a long time! Lol…and now here’s a little cartoon that will make you smile 🙂

…and hey, you can even scrap about what you’re doing to celebrate earth day. Check out this adorable kit from Chunlin Designs:

Here’s one of my kits that encourages you to PLANT things and dream big! Both are great activities for earth day!

I hope you have a Happy Earth Day, and that you get to spend at least part of the day ENJOYING this beautiful planet that we live on!
