This week has just flown by, and very little of my time was spent at the computer. The physical world has kept me quite busy! Now that things have quieted down again, I can dive back into my digital world and do the things I love doing the most – designing and scrapping! It’s hard to believe that this is my 11th year in the digital scrapbooking world, and while there are some things I miss about paper scrapbooking, there are three things that keep me from going back to it…

One:

No mess (the biggest no brainer). Everything is (theoretically) nice and tidy on our computers, (theoretically) filed away into a system that works for us so we can (theoretically) find things easily. Sometimes our system breaks down, things don’t get filed away, or we just plain forget what’s in our stashes, but it’s all there and, theoretically, backed up to another source, so if something happens to our computers, we can put everything back on to a new device. I say theoretically a lot here, because my computer is a MESS right now, lol! BUT! I have Backblaze, so I’m definitely all backed up 😉 Do I have physical scrapbook products? Yes, yes I do. Just not as much of it as I once did. I do like to print out elements from my page, cut them out, then afix them to my printed scrapbook page for a 3D effect (ish). That’s always fun to do, especially with doodles!

Two:

The versatility of digital products. I can recolor just about anything in my stash to match my photos – or vice versa. I can cut pieces off of elements and papers to make something new. I can write on the page and not have to worry about spelling something wrong because it’s easily fixable (CTRL-Z is my best friend!). Things are not “permanent” (unless I screw up and save my page as a JPG instead of a TIFF, lol).

Three:

The wonderfully eclectic mix of styles in our digital scrapbooking world! Even here at PBP the mix of styles is just fabulous. Whether I want to scrap a soft girly page, a page in a more traditional style or one covered in doodles, it’s not hard to find what I need right here in our shop. Even scrappers who like to scrap artsy journal type pages can find something here! One of these days, I’ll study some of those artsy pages in our gallery and see if I can’t wrap my head around them to do my own. Honestly, brain… let a girl artsy scrap already!

What are some of your favorite things about this fab hobby of ours? Did you ever paper scrap? If so, do you miss it? What are some things you’d like to see make the leap into the digital world from the paper world?
