We’re happy to introduce our next Our Gal Friday to you! 

Kiana says… I was born and raised in Michigan, where I currently reside now with my family. I lived in Tennessee for about 15 years where I met and married my husband….this also gave me a southern accent that I can’t seem to get rid of now. LOL! I’ve been married for 17 years to a supportive and amazing man and we’ve got 2 teens that eat us out of house and home every week. We also have a cute American Akita pup who we adore. I work as an administrative assistant by day with lots of excel spreadsheets – which is about as far from creative as you can get. So when I come home I enjoy opening Photoshop CC and getting all creative with digiscrap and designing. I found digiscrap in 2011 and haven’t looked back. I enjoy being creative in many ways and love a good binge watch session of my favorite TV shows during my design time. I usually have that or music going and just get in my creative zone. I love sharing my products and layouts and I enjoy seeing what’s done with them too!

Are you a morning person or a night owl?

I’m a midday Molly. Lol. I get up a 5am during the week, but I don’t like to, which means by 9pm I’m ready to crash. Catch me around 2pm and I’ll be the life of the lunch party. Lol.

What is the one thing you refuse to share?

Ice cream. Lol. It’s my most favorite dessert and I don’t like sharing it.

If you could know the absolute and total truth to one question, what question would you ask?

If aliens & unicorns really exist.

What book do you think everyone should read?

My book(s). Seriously, I have 4 poetry collections that are published and every person that tells me they’re “not into poetry” has loved my words. I write about the human experience, good, bad, ugly and there is beauty in those experiences. I think that’s why my poems resonate with everyone, not just “poetry” people. If you want to check them out, they’re under my pen name, Kiana Donae on Amazon. *shameless plug*

What is your most unusual talent?

That I can tune out anything. Crying babies, my kids, my husband, the TV, sirens. If I’m in my “zone” then I can tune out anything.

Talking about myself is a little bit difficult for me. I live with my husband and our cat in a rural area in Germany. My daughter lives in California with her family and I am a proud grandma of 3 little girls. My daily walk (nearly 6.5 miles) is a must – no matter what the weather is. In 2002 I discovered graphics programs for myself and started digital scrapbooking in 2011. And this fascination continues to this day.

If you have free, unlimted service for 5 years from an extremely good cook, chauffeur, or masseuse, which service would you choose? I would like to have the unlimited service of an extremely good cook then I would not have to worry about what to cook, but would be surprised every day. What is the funniest thing that has happened to you? We were at the campsite and wanted to buy a windbreak in the shop. Next to it were 10 broomsticks that looked like they belonged to them – they looked like fastening poles. So I grabbed them and took them with me – the lady at the checkout said nothing and just charged the windbreak. When we set it up, we saw that the poles were with it. And so I had 10 broomsticks – for whatever Do you have any pets? We have a cat – she is from the rescue and now 5 years with us. What do you think of garden gnomes? It reminds me of the past – there they were in almost every garden and even then I didn’t like them. How much would you charge to clean all the windows of New York? Nobody could offer me so much money that I’d be crazy enough to clean all the windows in New York LOL

My name is Evelyn Stevenson. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Tod, for almost 42 years. We have one son and two daughters. We will soon welcome our sixth grandchild. I am a retired teacher that was blessed to teach in Christian schools for 33 years. Since COVID, I am blessed to work with our oldest daughter for her Etsy shop. I have been scrapbooking for about twenty years. I did traditional scrapbooking for about ten years and digital scrapbooking for about ten years. I love scrapbooking as I get to be creative while preserving family memories.

What is your favorite color or color combination that you love to scrap with?  My favorite color is periwinkle blue. I tend to love to scrap with blues and greens. What would you do if you found a penguin in your freezer?  I would take him/her out and feed him/her some tuna fish. I would then take lots of pictures to scrap! Do you work outside your home?  I had to retire from teaching due to COVID. I now work for our oldest daughter who has an Etsy shop. Now she gets to boss me around! JK. She is an excellent boss and I am blessed to work with her and her husband. Are you right handed or left handed?  I write with my right hand and am predominantly right handed. However, there are a few things I do with my left hand. How do you fit a giraffe in a refrigerator? Hmmm, very carefully? Well, I would probably try to get a large space saver bag and deflate him/her down to a more manageable size.
