Indigo Designs by Anna (Anna)

We’re happy to introduce the next Our Gal Friday to you!

Hi my name is Anna. I live in Russia. I’m 25 (almost 26). I’m married. I have a Master’s degree in Pharmacology. At the moment I work in a pharmacy.

How did I come into scrapbooking? My mom and my aunt were involved in scrapbooking when I was very young. We had a large and very creative family. All together we were engaged in various handicrafts such as embroidery, sewing, paper appliqués, woodwork. Therefore, back in 2007, when my mother and aunt decided to become designers, the whole family helped them. I have always enjoyed helping to make various paper parts and collect wildflowers (nature walks are my weakness).

Over time, as I got older and as the illnesses of my mother and aunt began to progress, I began to learn to help photograph and do some work in Photoshop.

At the moment, I am very happy and proud to be part of the PBP team and for the chance that Fayette, the entire PBP team, and those who love and support me have given me to continue this work.

In addition to scrapbooking, I have several other hobbies and hobbies. I really love animals – any animals. Now we have 9 cats and they were all taken from shelters or rescued. And I also dream of having a dog, ideally a husky (they are very cute and emotional and energetic like me). On weekends, I help by volunteering at shelters for abandoned and stray animals. I also like to read. Everywhere. On the train. On the veranda. Before bedtime. On the subway and at lunch. I really like to imagine the characters in the book, the setting, the atmosphere, so I prefer fantasy and detective stories, and I also like to read scientific articles from the world of medicine. Various novelties in this area inspire me and give me hope that someday humanity will conquer disease. I am a big dreamer and one of my biggest dreams is to see the whole world and touch a different culture and history.

DESiGNER Q & A

What is your favorite color (or color combination) that you just love to design with?

The colors that I like mostly depend on the mood, but in general, these are
soft pastel colors, beige, as well as all shades of green and yellow.

What would you do if you found a penguin in your freezer?

I’ll look for another one and also treat them to ice cream. Do penguins love ice
cream?

If you could have three wishes, what would they be?

This is a pretty tricky question. Since it is rather difficult to answer it without being hypocritical. Probably the first and most important thing for me is to always be sure that my family will be safe and have a decent life and the opportunity to live like people without being subjected to cruelty and violence. My second desire associated with my activities is the desire for people to have more humanity. Humanity in relation to other people, animals, nature – this could solve many problems that exist today. My third desire is for humanity to learn to cure all existing diseases, regardless of nature they are physical or mental or congenital.

What would your theme song be every time you walked into a room?

Sia – Unstoppable

What is the funnies thing that has happened to you?

Oh, I don’t even know what to talk about. There is not a day in my life without funny incidents. But perhaps the most amusing of the recent incidents was the case when during a long trip my jeans got worn out (this is the trouble of my life) and due to the fact that I had to actively walk, one leg almost came off. In general, all day I was the owner of the most fashionable jeans with ties (yes, my leg was kept on two seams).

Isn’t that funny? hmm ….. And if you add to the atmosphere -20 Celsius and a big city in the snow? Really, I felt like a Cinderella of the new time!

SCRAPDOLLY (Karen)

My name is Karen, but in my creative life I am known everywhere as Scrapdolly. Even my husband calls me Dolly! I live with my husband of 35 years and our furbabies in Dorset on the south coast of the UK. We live quite close to the sea and it is what sustains and refreshes my soul. I could never live far from the water.

We have always had cats and in December 2020 welcomed our latest additions – two Bengal boy kittens who are absolutely adorable. I used to be a head teacher at a local school for girls aged 3 – 11 but took early retirement in 2016 and have never looked back.

I have been a paper scrapper for over 20 years and started digital scrapping in 2010 and love both equally.

Mary-Lynne

My name is Mary-Lynne, and I currently live in Omaha, Nebraska, USA.  Not a lot notable about Omaha, but we do have an amazing zoo, so you’ll see lots of scrapbook pages of all the critters living there. I’ve lived here since my early 20’s but I’m originally from Toronto, Canada and actually grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico, so I’ve been around! Hubby and I love to travel, especially to see the Grandbabies, who are the object of most of my pages.

I’m retired, after a very long career in computer technology, so my time is my own.  Next to Scrapbooking my passion is photography, so I always have lots to scrap. I’m a huge Toronto Maple Leafs fan and am enjoying watching the hockey playoffs right now.

FORUM MEMBER Q & A

What is your favorite color (or color combination) that you just love to scrap with?

This changes seasonally, but right now, I’m loving the bright blue and yellow combo.  My Grand-daughter recently informed me, that her favorite color is now blue instead of pink.   Since 95% of my scrapping is her, this is important information!

What is your most unusual talent?

Tripping!   I can trip over air!

One time when Hubby and I were visiting the ancient cliff dwellings in Mesa Verde, we were going out of our way to not touch or disturb anything.  There were Rangers all over making sure no one was touching anything; but we still saw people ignoring the rules.

At one point, I was trying to get a photo and kept backing up to get more in the frame, when the small wall around the structure got me in the back of the knees and I fell into the dwelling, spread flat out like I was making a snow angel!!!  On top of that, my hat flew off and went even further into the dwelling.   The Rangers had to walk all the way into the area to get my hat!  Never been so embarrassed in my life!

If you could compare yourself with any animal, which would it be and why?

I’ve actually always believed that I was a big cat in a prior life, so I have to choose that.  No idea why I think this, I’m not a big believer in this kind of thing, just have always felt this.

What is the one thing you know to be true that very few others do?

That there are ghosts.   When I moved into my home in 1983, there were a number of unexplained things that happened.  I came to believe that I had the ghost of a young boy living there.   He often turned on my son’s slot race track, when we were all in another room watching TV.   He also turned the lights and the stereo on, fairly often.   Many times, we would come home and my son’s toys were be scattered around the family room.   At no time was he threatening, just playful, so that’s why I believed it was a young boy.

What is the one thing you refuse to share?

Popcorn! When Hubby and I met, our second date was a Movie.   I made it clear right off the bat that I would share a lot with him, but was never going to share my popcorn!
