KAKLEiDESiGNS

Hi, my name is Karen and I am 55 years old, a mother of a son who made me a proud grandmother, and a beautiful daughter of 33 years old who just got married last February. I was born in Uruguay -South America but moved to Tel Aviv-Israel more than 12 years ago. So, my mother tongue is Spanish, but I speak bad English most of the time and some Hebrew or a mix of both. I live in a country that is in War and also suffered a huge tragedy so my main escape from such an awful reality is to scrap and design as much as I can.

DESiGNER Q & A

What motivates you in your designs?

I found my motivation in everything and everywhere. Between reality, what’s going on in the World, or with me and my loved ones, I also listen to a lot of music, I like to read, and enjoy watching movies and TV shows. So many phrases, lyrics, colors, themes, characters, and more come from a mix of reality and fiction, which is my favorite way to be and work with.

What’s Your Favorite Product?

I created this bundle in a pretty desperate moment in my life (October 2023), going through war and losing so much, it was after October 7 and I was grieving so deeply, I was also spending most of the time of the day in the shelter because of the missiles, my son took his wife and my grandson and went to refuge in Spain, which was a relief but also very sad since I couldn’t see my sweet grandson anymore. My daughter was supposed to get married on October 12 and she had to postpone and her future husband was called from the army. Everything was chaos and despair, lots of grieving, fear, and lots of losses, young women, and daughters from friends of mine that were killed on October 7. So my whole grieving and also my whole body, soul, and bones needed to express, and I decided to honor the falling souls but also to honor hope and women…so this was my rendition of my hurt and I chose a color palette that was deep but also joyful and hopeful, and that’s why it means so much to me.
