ELYSiAN STUDiO

Hello, my name is May. I am the designer behind Elysian Studio. My daughter is the one who came up with the name. However, there was a time when I used my daughter’s name, Janice, as my design name, which was ‘Janice’s Scrap’.

I started being a designer in 2009, when my daughter was about one year old. I discovered scrapbooking after searching for something online and accidentally came across scrapbook layouts. They were so beautiful and immediately caught my attention. I wanted to know how they were made, and I was even more surprised when I discovered that everything I was seeing was entirely digital. Fortunately, since I was already using Adobe Photoshop, it wasn’t hard for me to learn.

Since then, I have been passionately involved with digital scrapbooking. However, when my daughter started growing up, I took a break and turned to writing, which is another love of mine, just like scrapbooking. I stopped designing scrapbooks for ten years before returning to it again, this time using the name Elysian Studio.

DESiGNER Q & A

If you could learn one skill instantly, what would it be?

If I could choose, I would love to learn drawing, especially watercolor painting. I’ve liked drawing since I was a child, but as I grew up, I rarely picked up a pencil or brush. When I tried to start drawing again, I found it really challenging. So, I just follow artists I admire on Instagram. Whenever I see beautiful drawings, especially watercolors, I’m always amazed by how skilled the artists are. I wish I could be that good too.

What is your favorite product and why?

Serene Collection is my most favorite product because the color tones used are all colors I love, especially the shades of blue, green, and mint. Another reason is that this collection reminds me of the family vacations we had at the beach and makes me think of my mother’s house in Phuket, which is an island in southern Thailand.
