Journaling: This summer, we decided at the last minute to take a road trip to Carlsbad Caverns National Park. Since we went on such short notice, most of the guided tours were full. Sam and I have never been fond of the “cattle drive” aspect of a guided tour, and after the one guided tour that we did take, we found out that the boys don’t like being on someone else’s timetable, either.  So the next day we found some of the marked trails and small caves before we went into the Caverns  and explored those.
