If I Could Step Back in Time

April 2021 Journal Challenge
The journaling reads: "If I could step back in time, I would spend more time with my grandma in doing all the things that she showed me. I was a young girl and I didn’t realize the importance until I was my own person. I was so busy starting my own life, that I never stopped to realize how little time she had left, until it was to late.
If I could step back in time, I would go to Church with her to sing from the hymnal. If I could only hear her sing “Amazing Grace”, once again.
If I could step back in time, I would walk into grandma’s house and see her reading her Bible. I would ask her to share her faith in God with me.
If I could step back in time, I would pick wild blackberries with her. I would ask you to teach me how to make your blackberry cobbler - so I can taste it once again.
If I could step back in time, I would pay more attention in helping her cook. I would ask her how she made her chicken and dumplings or what was the special ingredient in her fried chicken that made it always so good.
If I could step back in time, I would gladly help her home canning. I would pick the fresh tomatoes from the vines and ‘pop’ the freshly picked green beans with her in the backyard.
If I could step back in time, I would help her save seeds. I remember the folded paper towels of seeds on your kitchen table.
If I could step back in time, I would drive her to the graveyards to put flowers on the family graves. I would help her pay contribute to her parents, brother, sisters, my grandpa, my dad, and even a cousin that was buried by herself.
If I could step back in time, I would thank her for her sacrifice raising her children (my dad) as a widower. I would thank her for opening her home to the twenty-some orphans she offered a loving home to.
If I could step back in time, I could feel the warmth of her hug; to hear her say, “I love you” with her gentle voice; and to see her beautiful smile, one more time."

such a heartfelt page - this is what scrapping is all about
I have a hard time sharing my thoughts and feelings on my scrapbook pages. I don't have many pages like this. I cried horribly while making this page as I really did tap into real feelings to express this page. Thank you, Dolly, for recognizing this. {hugs}

What lovely journaling. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I know this was a difficult page to scrap but it is beautiful.

What an amazing page. I love every pixel of it. It's perfect. You know, when we tap into those feelings and share them we bestow the gift of vulnerability. When we are vulnerable in the presence of friends, we gift them with the joy of offering support and love. You have many friends here!

Thank you, Susan. Thank you for the kind words to remind me that it's okay to share with others. :)
