In July, one of my sisters and I took my mother and her sister to some of their old homes. I snapped photos of many of the old (still standing!) buildings, and this is one - this was a back shed built by my grandfather, which contained the laundry and a smaller room which my mother was allowed to use as her studio. It is here, she told us, that she created the family photo album - a young woman in love and starting a new family of her own.
