Journalling reads
A township that wants to be remembered as the town of light. The mountains surrounding the historic settlement, are often hidden in a cloak of clouds or fog. But those mountains also provide the reason Reefton came to be in the first place. Theres gold and coal in them there hills! And both have been mined since the mid 1800s, sucessfully in some cases, not so in others. So why does Reefton want to be remembered as the town of light? Well the gold has a lot to do with it, Reefton thanks to the surrounding gold mines and rivers became the first town in New Zealand to have electric street lights, 1888 saw electric light available to the public in Reefton thanks to a hydro power station situated just outside the township. Quite an achievement really!
This is very eyecatching, Cheryl ... what a lovely slice of history you have created! :)

I love this photo and I love the story behind the photo and what it all means. Awesome!
