Journaling reads: In this lovely photo of Wellingore, I can see what the hamlet must have looked like when my 3 times great grandparents, Benjamin and Mary Scott Hare lived there in 1819. They married in Caythorpe in 1816, had son James in Stixwould in 1817, then Mary in Wellingore in 1819. Mary and James were baptized with the surname HARE but the remainder of the children were baptized EYRE. They lived in Brauncewell: where 6 more children were born - Helsey 1821, George 1823, Ellen 1825, Benjamin 1829, Martha 1832, and my 2 times great grandmother Jane 1835. They moved to Dunsby where Sarah 1837 and Eliza 1839 were born although the last 8 children were baptized at Brauncewell.
A Roman road, celebrated in this mosaic, ran through Wellingore on its way to Yorkshire from London. I wonder if any of them knew that and walked or played there?
