Welcome to the Show Stopper Challenge - Genealogy (Family Tree), my name is Jenni aka Ozegirl and I will be hosting this challenge for you all.

I started my page from scratch with a tree shape from PSE shapes but you may wish to do a chart - there are many free family tree templates and charts on the internet to get inspiration from. As this challenge is about your family tree it doesn't necessarily have to feature an actual tree but may in journaling form tell us about your family history - it must however go back at least to your grandparents - where they were born, the sort of life they lived, did they emigrate etc. and the journaling must be a feature of the page and not just a few lines.

However you may not know much of your family history so your journaling could be about why this is, whether you are interested in finding out more, if you have thought about doing your DNA or have done so.

For this challenge I created my page with the wonderful bundle MY PEOPLE by JB designs by Dani.

My page shows my parents, grandparents and photos of three of my great grandparents.

Each week's three challenges must be completed by the deadline in order to qualify for the weekly participation prize and to be considered for our weekly Star Scrapper Award.

Our Grand Prize will be awarded to one scrapper who completes all 15 challenges by the last week’s deadline. This means even if you don’t finish each week on time, you can still catch up to earn the remaining prizes and qualify for the Grand Prize!

Please start a post in the GDSO Challenge Tracking thread
Keep your post up-to-date with links to the layouts that you’ve completed and uploaded to the GDSO gallery. Please make sure you are linking to your page IN THE GDSO GALLERY, not the thread post in the challenge.

Final deadline for all layouts is April 4 @11:59pm ET. At that time the tracking thread will be locked, the final weekly prizes will be sent, and winners will be contacted by April 7.

Wow, that was a fun challenge! Thank you, Jenni!

Journaling:
I chose these photos because they were taken during a time when we were all together. I’m the youngest, born in 1994. My maternal grandfather passed away that same year, and I never had the chance to know him. He was a great man, and I’ve heard many stories about him. He loved his family deeply. Of all my grandparents, only my paternal grandmother is still alive, but we can only meet rarely. She’s a lively, youthful woman, and no one would guess she’s already 70! As for the generations before them, I know very little. I didn’t learn much from my grandparents, and my parents didn’t know them either. I once started researching my family tree, but I didn’t get far.

What a beautiful tree. I love your photos - aren't we lucky to have these older family photos. I love how you have added the small flowers on the tree and especially love how you have added the Family word tag and the heart. The heart is at the centre of the family tree. Your journaling is so interesting and with the internet now so many research possibilities have opened up. The possibility of searching for birth certificates etc. is so much easier now. Perhaps you will begin researching your tree again one of these days. Thank you for participating in the challenge.

Here is mine:

Such a beautiful tree with wonderful photos. The heart is the centre of your tree and it is so nice for your son to have this heritage. Your clusters are delightful and I love the added hearts scattered throughout. The stitching around the outline of your tree is an extra nice touch. Thank you for participating in the challenge.

How lovely to see your face Carla on your page. Wonderful photos and your clusters are so stunning. Your composition is so beautiful - I love how it is almost like an arrow pointing to your photo and your eye is immediately drawn to your lovely picture. Great paper choices and your clusters are just gorgeous! Thank you for participating in the challenge.

Here is my family tree.

Kay your journaling is so interesting. I just love big families and Robert certainly did his part and so did your Mom. Loving your triangle of leaves and the photos. Your history is fascinating and your extended tree would be wonderful to research. Thank you for participating in the challenge.

Wow I thought I had done well with my 6,000 + people but you and your father have far exceeded that. It is rather addictive. Great photos and journaling. The font you have used is a great journaling font and your page beautifully balanced. Thank you for participating in the challenge.

Reading your journaling brought a tear to my eye. Your poor mother with 7 very young children and losing her husband at such a young age. A lot must have fallen on your shoulders too. Your grandparents meeting at a training base during WWII sounds so romantic and brings to mind all the movies about love during the war years. I love the way you have set out your page and your cluster is delightful. Thank you for participating in the challenge.
