MDD DESiGNS (Michelle)
We’re happy to introduce our next Our Gal Friday to you! My name is Michelle, I’ll be 40 in July, although I’m hanging on to that 39 for dear life. I live on the state line of North and South Carolina’s beaches (USA). I am happily married, and we have 3 children. I have not worked outside the home in years, due to the needs and demands of being a stay-at-home special needs parent for my two oldest. I am also a homeschool mama to my 7-year-old. I never in a million years would have thought I’d be cut out to homeschool let alone wanna do it, but as it turns out I rather enjoy it. Once upon a time… I used to paper scrap. Later, I discovered PaintShop and Photoshop and started making awareness tags, ads, and banners for people and events. Somehow I came across a digital scrapbooking Facebook group…. and I was hooked. After CT’ing for a while, I decided to take the leap and become a designer. Although I do not paper scrap anymore, I do LOVE to art journal and at some point, I really want to make my own junk journal. I also enjoy curling up with a good book. Before my hubby became ill we used to take road trips just to discover new places, gosh I miss that, and hopefully, we’ll be back at it soon. Yeah, I lead a pretty busy life and my house is so cluttered and a mess but that’s ok. That just means I’m blessed to have a family to clean up after. I’m still hoping one day I’ll wake up and the cleaning fairies paid me a visit…. Hey, a girl can dream can’t she?

Describe your life using film titles.
Parenthood

What 2 totally normal things become really weird if you do them one after the other?
Washing the car and then going to the lake or beach.
I’m not sure why but I do this more often than I care to admit. But, hey! I can’t help if the car accidentally on purpose steers its way to a large body of water with sand everywhere.
On a scale of 1-10, how lucky do you think you are?
I would say 10. I have a beautiful family, we have a roof over our heads, food on the table, and places to rest our heads. It’s a little funny, at one point in my life it would be either good ‘luck’ or bad ‘luck’. However, now as a Christian, I don’t see it as luck but simply being blessed, even through the trials.
What is the one thing you know to be true that very few others do?
Baking soda… Seriously, it’s beneficial in sooooo many ways.
I mix it in my shampoo once a week.
I use it as a face wash & and other areas of the body (and if you have acne it will clear it up) – after using expensive acne treatment programs I found baking soda works just as good (and in some cases better) than some of the top expensive products.
I use it on scrapes, bruises, bites, etc.
That’s just some of the health care.
I could go on and on and on…
What is the one thing you refuse to share?
Underwear… that’s just gross.

I have recently made a big move to Texas. We decided to try to see if the warmer weather would help me do better with pain. It is the first time living in a different state, and with the Minnesota winters, I’ll take Texas any day of the week! Several years ago, I also started a diet that mainly consists of living food, so lots of fruits and veggies! Eating like this has proven to be good for me, and I will probably eat like this the rest of my life! I haven’t had a job due to pain in years. That’s where the digital world comes in and gives me the feeling of having a purpose. I started scrapbooking around 1997 wanting to have the photos I took to have more meaning. This became a bit spendy having to buy all sorts of things to get this job done, not yet knowing about this digital world of scrapbooking. But, around 2007 I learned how to Google and started seeing things done digitally and OMG, was I in awe of what I saw. Needless to say, here I am loving my job at Pickleberrypop as a CT member!

| What is your most unusual talent? I can write backwards…not much of a talent since I can’t really use that for anything, tho! If you have a free, unlimited service for 5 years from an extremely good cook, chauffeur, or masseuse, which service would you choose? OMG, it’s been my dream to have my own chauffeur because I do NOT like to drive and now that I’m in Texas, the roads are even more crazy so please, hook me up!! Are you married? With or without kids? I am married with 2 kids, one boy and one girl. My son is soon to be married and my daughter is married and I’m hoping soon to become a mom herself giving me a grandbaby!! What book do you think everyone should read? “Unbroken” by Laura Hillenbrand. So good and it drives me to know we can be strong if we put our mind to it and believe! On a scale of 1-10, how lucky do you think you are? To be honest, it depends on the day…some days I do not feel very lucky but in my heart of hearts I do feel I am very blessed to have the things I do have in my life. |

I’m a wife and mother. Been married for almost 17 years. He’s a good man to put up with my quirks. I have 2 children: son is Quin & he is 16 and my daughter is Kennedy and she is 12. I’m a USAF veteran. I’m a nurse with a business and MIS degree (weird, I know…. that’s me). I’ve always been a tech geek and have played with Photoshop for years, mainly photo editing until digiscrapping. Prior to digiscrapping, I did paper scrapping. I’ve been scrapping for about 20 years. Digiscrapping for a little over a year now. I attempted digiscrapping about 12 years ago, and wasn’t too impressed. Gave it another try since I’m like thousands of photos behind in albums and have been clearly hooked since then. I also enjoy most things crafty from DIY projects (much to my husbands dismay), to regular papercrafting (paper flowers, card making, party favors, etc), to repurposing wine bottles and whatever else that becomes a likely target into home decor, etc. I do dislike sewing UNLESS, it’s sewing paper (weird, I know). I’m currently a stay at home mom and spend most of my days helping hubby with his business and scrapping/crafting in between kid activities. I hate shopping unless it’s makeup or shoe shopping. I love to run. I absolutely LOVE the beach. I love nature and most animals.

What is your most unusual talent?
A more normal answer is, I am more productive with 50 things to do than with 5. Weird answer, my feet are practically a second set of hands. I can pick up many things with my feet, why bend over if my feet can handle the job, right?
If you could have three wishes, what would they be?
I think that world peace is a tall order, so I would like to wish for world kindness. If we all are kind to each other, many of our problems would be less severe. I would partner that wish with respect for each other. On a personal level and not to be on the dark side, I always wish and hope that I live long enough to know that my children have found their way and able to navigate the big bad world as an adult on their own.
If you could learn any skill in the world without trying, what would you choose?
The ability to pick up any language after hearing it one time.
Is a hotdog a sandwich?
No, it goes on a bun. If I don’t consider a hamburger a sandwich then I can’t consider a hot dog one. Not sure my argument from the bun perspective is very solid, but it’s my logic and I’m rolling with that.
What’s the last thing you watched on tv?
Shoot, I haven’t watch much TV the past year. I did binge watch Bridgerton a couple weeks ago.
