We’re happy to introduce our next Our Gal Friday to you!
About Heather: I started digiscrapping about 18 years ago, after I had my son and found myself at home. I’d been doing stamp art, and was designing Asian-themed stamps for the Art Neko company. Then a friend introduced me to little photo templates. I found 2Peas online (a digi & real-life scrapbooking forum which has since gone defunct), and started designing because I was frustrated that I couldn’t find the stuff I wanted to use in my layouts! I’m a self-taught Photoshop pro, and recently followed a super-wonderful course by Bonnie Christine for Illustrator, and those are the two main apps I use. Over the years I’ve done jewelry-making, specifically wire and beads; and lots of photography. I live on the Oregon Coast with my little family, and after having a surprise heart attack about 6 years ago, decided to really focus on living with love and joy in everything I do!

What is your most unusual talent?
Cooing like a pigeon.
What is the funniest thing that has happened to you?
I’m bilingual French/English because I grew up in the French-speaking part of Switzerland with my American parents, so I don’t always get English quite right. I was once working as a secretary for a company that installed piping, and had to fill in for the receptionist over lunchtime. The FedEx guy showed up and left something for one of the guys working in the cleanroom at the back of the building, and I announced over the loudspeaker (which could be heard outside, too): “Hey Fred, you have a large package up front!” Whereupon I heard laughter from every single person in the building. Sigh.
If you could make a rule for a day and everyone has to follow it, what would it be?
Find a piece of art in your town and spend 10 minutes with it.
If you could know the absolute and total truth to one question, what question would you ask?
How many other races are there in the universe?
How much would you charge to clean all the windows in New York?
Fuhgedabouddit.

I live on the east coast of Australia, in the beautiful mid north coast of NSW famed for it’s wonderful beaches and surfing culture. I’m married with three grown children and two grandchildren (they are often featured on my layouts) and one due later in the year. I spent many years as a teacher, teaching children between the ages of 5 – 12. There is currently a ‘sea change’ in retail, where we have a lot of customers coming in, so I must enjoy interacting with people! I’m a keen amateur photographer- this hobby led me to digital scrapbooking and playing in Photoshop. I love learning new things in Photoshop.
