We've been enjoying watching all of the different volcanic eruptions in the Sundhnúkur area of Iceland, near Grindavík - and the volcanic & atmospheric moods.

Historical Geological Record: Between December 2023 and August 2025, there have been nine eruptions, following an intense series of earthquakes in November 2023. Eruptions varied, with one opening a fissure estimated to be at least 2.1 miles in length and another having lava fountains reaching as high as 196 feet - roughly the height of a 17- or 18-story building. It was hard watching the residents of Grindavík having to evacuate, yet the nation of Iceland covers all homes from natural disasters. We wish more people who lose homes in disasters of all kinds were covered everywhere.
