Uses the tradition purples, golds, yellows, and greens of the autumn palette.
Although we have a small to medium state university here, Calloway County is still largely agricultural. MSU reflects that with a top-rated, top-tier internationally recognized College of Agriculture. In the autumn, along with the harvest we have loads of country entertainment and events - everything from football to Fall at the Farm to our Farmer's Market on the Square. We have a traditional one, too, but I love going to Courthouse Square when the fall produce comes in - luscious squashes, pumpkins berries and fruits. Towards the expected killing frost date come green tomatoes that will ripen wrapped in newspaper and stored under the bed or can be fried in rings or chopped with onions and the last of the okra or some squash. But my favorite is the mushrooms. There is no way I've found that I don't like these tasty morsels - or is that morels? We love them, so I get up early and trudge into town to pick out the mushrooms for dinner - mmm, mushroom curry! - and a bunch to eat while we prep supper!
