I would love a kit to scrap the photos I take while hiking around Arizona. A combination of artsy and traditional elements. Blended papers, nature style elements, splatters would be fabulous. Thanks for the chance to enter your contest.

What an amazing opportunity - thank you! Crossing my fingers and toes that I win this one... I grew up in the beautiful Pacific Northwest and really want a kit that focuses on Coastal Washington and Oregon.

1. Palette: I couldn't find an exact color palette that included the deep greens, ocean blues, lupine purple and salmonberry oranges... I am not too picky on this so there are some ideas at the bottom... (If that is not okay, let me know and I will try to figure something out.)

2. Style: I like traditional and artsy combination - nothing 'cute/cartoonish'. I like masks, splatters, word art, word strips, templates, messy stitching, blended papers, flowing, natural alphas... Some of the kits I really like are: 1. "Walk With Me" and 2. the Artsy Bits from "It's A Brand New Day"

3. Content: Waterfalls are the most important element for me but others ideas include snow capped and pine covered mountains, ocean, rushing rivers and rippling streams, the Native American influence (Tlingit & Salish totems, masks, textiles...), salmon, blackberries and salmonberries, bear, harbor seals, bald eagles, seagulls, rhododendrons, wildflowers like lupine, scarlet beebalm, and buttercups, ferns, pine boughs, ferry boats, rain, lush pine forests, moss covered pine trees, sea lions, star fish, crabs, anemones, tide pooling, glass floats / sea glass... I don't care so much about sports teams, coffee and city elements or things I can easily find in other kits. I want to be out in nature with this one (especially hiking to the waterfalls and beachcombing). :)

Hello CBJ, here's my entry for the custom kit contest.

1. Pallette. Soft colors. Nothing bold, bright or in your face. The four main colors are on the right. The neutrals to the left.

2. Style: Traditional. Theme: Spring (the Season) blending into Tropical Summer beach. Sunny day at the beach in late Spring.

3. Elements and Papers:

a. Realistic tropical flowers and greenery such as sea grass and seaweed.

b. Suggestions for other elements include seashells, bird, sand, pier, message in a bottle, rocks, sea life, water, sun, something nautical.

b. Single photo frame of wood.

c. Overlays.

d. Solid blended papers. Simple, not noisy.

e. Beach scenery papers. Could be realistic or blended colors. Maybe time of day such as morning (lots of light) or evening (colors dimming)?

Topic - How do you feel about "glunge"? It's a fashion word where glamour meets grunge.... it's glitzy & sexy but balanced out by being a bit dark, edgy but a bit pretty.

Color Palette - Colors tend to be pale or dark but generally muted with some dashes of brightness. I tried to find a color palette close to what I had in mind (see photo of a Rimmel eye shadow collection below) but could not as most were too dark or too colorful. The closest I could find was in your name siggie (see below).

Style - It should fit into your "artsy" style except I would call it "artsy with attitude".

Content - Since it is a fashion word, how about a couple of female silhouettes or B&W line drawings like the samle below but with a younger & svelte one for a younger audience, plus an older and more rounded version for those of us who are past middle age and are carrying a few extra ponds of ballast. That would allow us to run amok in PSP or PS with all our patterns & texture and customize the female form to our liking. Some textured material and denim & lace would be nice in grunged up or eroded versions as elements or papers. No fur unless it is ermine (that's just the princess in me talking). Chunky jewelry bits would be welcome. A multi photo template or frame that looks like it is from a film roll would be wonderful if you could also grunge that up a bit. And a stacked paper template with eroded edges would let me play for hours.

Thanks for the chance to win. Middie

1. Here's my palette:

2. Combination of artsy and traditional

3. Kit contents: paper flowers, fabric flowers, greenery, single photo frames, journaling bits, accents, paints, blended papers, gold maple leaf, gold beaver, red maple leaf, red poppies, officer's swords, military bits and pieces and ephemera (but no U.S. badges/flags/mottos), military helmets, crowns and pips (Canadian officers rank insignia). Basically I'm looking for a kit suitable to scrap my Remembrance Day photos, and photos from the battle sites and memorial from WW1 and WW2. This year is Canada's 150th birthday, and the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, so a kit celebrating those important dates would be SO amazing to have. My husband and I are doing the Vimy Challenge (5K +10K races) at this year's Canada Army Run, so it would be great to have something to scrap that with too!

Whether you're traveling North, East, or even into the middle West in the Fall, nature's scenery is gorgeous, even iconic. BUT, there is an ample supply of gorgeous kits out there for Fall weather, activities, and leaf peeping. I'm thinking more of those millions of us who live and/or travel especially to the East Coast or to the South, there is almost as much history to be seen as there is God's glorious colors. But for all the trips we have taken, I've only ever seen a very small sprinkling of kits that would fit such an adventure.

I wasn't as brilliant as some of these other ladies to pull a pallette... so let me paint it with my words. First, what I'm NOT proposing: I'm not picturing what we quite frequently see for fall; instead, I'd love a kit that would be a beautiful COMPLEMENT to fall colors--which speak for themselves. This would be a canvas for those colors to shine. As for the historical side of this notion, I'm also not proposing the traditional red, white and blue, though I do imagine a kit that might be used for a more patriotic adventure, an anytime trip to historical sites, or even the upcoming 4th of July.

What I AM picturing is deep red, russet, navy blue, a brown, shades of gray, with some gold and cream in the mixture. Fall kits often have amazing fall colors--but so do my photos! Using shades of blues and grays would create an amazing backdrop to the colors already painted on the hillsides, and would also be well suited to the historical stops along the way.

Thanks for challenging me to dig deeper. Maybe the closest kit you have, colorwise, is Confessions, with it's grays, navy and red. This pallette is as close as I could find. I picture grays, as in the uniforms on Confederate soldiers, the deeper navy of the Northern uniforms, gold the glint of their guns shining in the sunlight, and red, as deep and rich as the blood shed on the battlefield of Gettysburg.

As for style, more nostalgic, touching ever so slightly on vintage, even to grunge. The warmer side of this pallette would find photos of fall, or even rich summer green scenery virtually popping off the page!

Hi Jill,
Thank you so much for the chance to enter this competition - even if I don't win I had so much fun thinking about it and collecting colours that it has been a lovely break from reality

Basically I would like a kit about photography. Yes I know it has been done and done and done again, but I am looking for something a little different.

1) my colour palettes are attached to this message - I love dark colours and I am looking for something that isn't specifically girly so I have stuck to neutral greens and blue in my examples with white and black naturally, but if you feel it needs more colours then I am not apposed to oranges, browns, reds or yellows - but I really would prefer not to have any pinks or purples (not my style at all). I don't like any of the kits more then the others so a mix of any of these would be fine.

2) I am looking for a more realistic kit which I think is what you would call traditional, but having said that I love the "inked" style that seems to be in fashion at the moment so if you could incorporate that it would be great. So realistic, with some arty aspects if that makes sense??

3) I like lots and lots of elements and normally just need a few papers. I LOVE ombre papers where the colours blend - especially from a very dark colour to white with lots of shades in between but that's just an idea - not sure if it is practical to make as I suspect it will be very difficult? Or maybe ombre from dark green to dark blue?
For the elements - I would like something a bit more realistic then what I have seen in other photography kits and a bit more specialised. For example : realistic camera lens, tripods, flashes & maybe reflectors? Or other camera hardware like battery packs. And then anything else camera or photo related.

For flowers and leaves - flowers in the dark colours would be wonderful as you don't see that very often, I like daisies and am really over roses and lilies that you see everywhere, so daisies and maybe cherry or apple blossom to bring in some refreshing whites?
Greenery - ferns are always lovely and I love ivy.

For frames maybe a lens where the aperture is a frame, realistic cameras where the lens is a frame, the back viewing part of the camera as a frame as well, tripods, flashes, reflectors film strip frames of cos but maybe distressed and older looking seeing as we don't use film anymore. And then something that has nothing to do with the theme, but something I have been looking for : frames made from twigs in a heart shape and an ivy circle and ivy square frame.

I also love brushes and so would love to see some included and perhaps a camera shaped mask?

Ok, now as soon as I send this I am going to remember another 50 things I wanted to tell you, but please bear in mind that there are just my personal preferences - obviously you would have to make the kit viable commercially so if you even use just a quarter of my suggestions I would be thrilled.

Thanks again for the fun :)
Terri

I was the winner of the 2nd Win A Custom Kit Contest. My situation was simple - our family likes to hike and I always seem to get pictures of the outdoors. But most of the outdoor kits that I could find were either too pink (I have 2 boys so I don't do pink!) or the foliage was the lush type that you find in just about any place other than South Texas -

One thing for sure - I didn't feel like I could make any suggestions to a DESIGNER! But Jill is my favorite and she asked, so I put in a color pallette and a few ideas, not really thinking anything of it. Then I got a message from her saying that I won! Awesome! I never seem to win anything and this was such a surprise - then Jill actually worked with me to understand the ideas I was tossing out and Walk With Me was made :)

It is still my go-to kit, since it seems to go with ALL of my pictures, but here are the first two pages that I completed :

Honestly, you really need to enter. Jill added all of her signature bits - a few doodles, a few metal pieces, I was and still am immensely pleased with the finished kit!

I've been so busy, I almost missed this fabulous opportunity. So glad I didn't.

1. My color palette. I love jewel tones, so here they are. :)

2. Style: A combination of Artsy and Traditional

3. I would like to have a kit featuring beautiful birds. I love Audubon prints, and am especially fond of the colorful members of the parrot family. Some of my favorite things to find in kits are textured papers, painted newsprint, paint spatters and drips, gesso, and masks. I also like word art, and a combination of painted and realistic elements.

Hope this is enough information, and thank you for all your generosity.
