I've heard great things about that one. I need to read it!
He has a new follow-up to that one called The Law of Love in Action. I bought that when I bought the other one and will read it when I'm done with the first one.

I've actually been reading some boring legal stuff lately.
It's called the《 Civil Code》.
Probably at some point my mother and my aunt will be in a legal battle over the division of the estate with another family (if she can still call it family).
So I'm going to finish the book and act as a surrogate for my mom and aunt :roflmao:

Oh my goodness! If there was a prize for most boring and hard to understand book(s), you'd win it! Sorry to hear about the family rift. That's really hard to deal with. :huggies:

I finished up the Dragon Heart series by Nora Roberts not long ago.
I just finished Hidden Picture by Jason Rekulak (highly rated) but I would rate it a high 3 star (I figured it out fairly early in the book.

Just started True Believer by Nicholas Sparks (It's a slow go since my time is limited)

The next few on my reading list are
The Perfect Marriage - Jeneva Rose
The Teacher - Freida McFadden
The Locked Door - Freida McFadden
The HouseMaid - Freida McFadden
The Housemaid's Secret - Freida McFadden
The Housemaid's ......... - Freida McFadden (releases in June)
It Ends with Us - Colleen Hoover
It Starts with Us - Colleen Hover

I have more on my shelf and in my kindle app to read but I'll get around to it.
I also have a very long wish lists of books

Hello,
Just sneaking in here. I've been in here several times but got nothing to chat as mostly books I've read are in Thai. BTW, I've haven't read much the past years.

Then I've got a new E-reader, so I've got back into reading once again. After almost a month that I've got that e-reader, comes the next one which is a Kindle Basic 2022. It's my very first Kindle. Now I'm reading almost every night before bed.

Last night I've just finished "Verity" by Colleen Hoover, and I love it. Today I'll be reading a new book, but still can't choose which book to read. There are so many choices, lol.

If you enjoy Colleen Hoover (I'll have to read Verity); read her "Layla" book. I really enjoyed that and the surprise twist!

Ooh Beth, I'll add that one to my list. I'm currently reading It Ends with Us in anticipation of the movie release.

So I finished It Ends with Us and started the sequel on my trip, and finished that as well. I've finished a few more in between then and now, most recently Miss Benson's Beetle. That one started really slow, but it picks up a lot in the middle with an intriguing end. It was for my book club, so now I'm in between books.

What did you think of It Ends With Us? I read it, in anticipation of the movie opening...but I was less than impressed, and I don't know if I'm just the minority there, or if I didn't give it the credit it deserves?

I was fairly shocked at how vividly the abuse was written. On the other hand, I loved the snippets with Atlas. Overall I really liked it for tackling some really hard subjects. Not every writer will do that. I think your view is valid--it's definitely not for everyone.

I am in the middle of reading Never Look Back by Mary Burton, and am really enjoying it. It's a mystery/crime novel, which is right up my alley.

I think my biggest issue with the book is the lack of consistency. Hoover starts us off early with the quote, and strong premise of the book, that there are no bad people, only people who do bad things. But, then she makes Ryle's actions so horribly judged and unforgiveable that a marriage cannot continue between the two (yes, they were bad, but they weren't exactly black and white like the book portrays it), but it's perfectly fine to leave an innocent child/infant with him, because no matter how horribly unworthy of trust he is with his wife, he would never hurt a child...in his moments of black out anger and physical abuse.
And Atlas is seen as this golden child, despite his situation, but we should have no problem with him being a legal adult having sex with a just barely that day, I think, turned 16-year-old) is perfectly fine, no problem, A-Ok!?
Nah. I can't justify all of that in my head, I guess

No, I haven't yet. This is the first book I've read of hers. But I will definitely check that one out next! Thank you Beth.

This month I only read 1 book because I started grad school and have poor time management skills. It was The Q by Beth Brower, who also wrote The Unselected Journals of Emma M. Lion. The former was really good, and I hear the latter are great books. They come highly recommended to me, but I haven't read them yet. An 8th in the series is coming in December I think.

Did anyone else set new reading goals for this year? I scaled down a bit because I found that I read a ton for my master's degree coursework and don't have the time I would like to read for fun. I'm aiming for 25 books this year.

My current read is Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney. It's a kind of suspense-mystery novel that I can't figure out yet, which is good, because it keeps me reading. It's for book club in a week, and I'm hosting, so I figured I'd better finish the thing lol! :)

I'm not a goal setter when it comes to books since I read most every night before bed. I love getting recommendations from friends who are, tho, since it seems they spend a lot of time culling through books they want to devote their [limited] time to. I'm always looking for Kindle Unlimited books to fill my iPad since I read so much.

I'm currently reading Catch Us When We Fall by Juliette Fay. If your a fan of Jodi Picoult, you'd enjoy this heartfelt drama about a young woman's trials and tribulations. I'm trying to read it slowly since I'm enjoying it so much. I usually read suspense, police procedurals, mysteries, along with a sprinkling of womens literature. I love a strong female protagonist and especially love a good series.

I've downloaded the first Beth Brower book, based on your recommendation Ane @AJsRandom and, since the series is part of Kindle Unlimited, I hope to read more than just one book.....thanks!

funny, i got an email from goodreads last week and just got around to it.. then cleaned out my shelves and set a 30-book goal, though I think I'll surpass that number well before June.

I've been listening to the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. I'm on Feverborn which is somewhere around book 8 I think. I listen to books a LOT. Found it easier because I don't have the patience for physical books anymore. Nick sees me reading and thinks that's his cue to get me on my feet to do... anything else :p ... or watch tv. If I have earbuds in I can't hear him LOL!

Physical books are now my "trophies" *snicker*

I just picked up Kim Harrison's Peri Reed Chronicles, so as soon as I finish Feverborn I'll take a break from that series and switch to Peri Reed. Love love love Kim Harrison. And Patricia Briggs. And James Patterson.

Oh, and for anyone that doesn't mind used books, Thriftbooks.com is GREAT. That's where I get all my "trophies" (because I have to own the physical book if I own it on audible, LOL)

I'm a sucker for recommendations....LOL I just downloaded the Peri Reed Chronicles and hope I remember that you recommended them once I finish the next few books in line on my iPad...LOL I've always been fascinated with time travel in books [and movies]; even the 40 sec time jump hooked me on getting these two.

so if you don't like it, it's my fault. gotcha. LOL! i've read drafter and operator already, and loved them immensely ;) they've been on my physical bookshelf since operator came out. i didn't know sideswiped was out until today, and i just discovered that Waylaid is part of both the drafter and the hollows series, but it's not on audible, sigh. guess i'll go amazon diving :p

her Eclipsed Evolution books are really good, too, as is Three Kinds of Lucky.

i might be a little obsessed with her books.... i've been through her Hollows series 6 times now, start to finish, and that's like a 20 book series, lol. the woman can't put out books fast enough for me :p
