And Again, @Beth and everyone that listens and scrap at the same time...how do you do that?
I need to try an audio book, I am very afraid I won't be able to concentrate.
haha - Karen - creating a layout doesn't take the mental fortitude as creating designs from scratch (or CU). You have so much more you have to concentrate on!

This is such a fabulous thread. I was always a good reader, and I used to be a writer for a long time.
I used to read in Spanish and English, but now I only read in Spanish.
My big love is Latin authors and drama novels that also involves different culture from other countries.
But now, I became obsessed with Thrillers and Mysteries.
The best book I have read lately is The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides.
I genuinely recommend it; it is fantastic, so well written, and the end is an absolute surprise.
I started one night and finished the following afternoon.
Right now, I am reading some Mysteries by Greg Dunnet, but I am not so impressed, so I am waiting to finish them all and buy something better. I will look for some titles here, but sometimes, it is hard to find them in Spanish.
Someone here said that read or listen to audiobooks...(I can't do it, I tried...I need the proper and classic book in my hands) while you are designing...WHAT?
@tiramisu ...it is you; you just became my idol...how do you manage to concentrate on listening and designing simultaneously?

I never tried audiobooks, I feel like I won't like it as much as reading. LOL However, I decided to give Kindle a try and it's easier for me to concentrate on it than the actual paper book. I'm very clumsy and I always end up damaging the book or missing the page I bookmarked, things like that. Besides that, I don't like collecting books so I try to donate after reading so kindle was a good solution.

This is great that you read Latino-American authors. I heard there are many great new independent Brazilian authors and I will start reading some of them soon. It's not Spanish though, it's Portuguese.

Love the recommendations here! I need to pause and put a list together of those so I can sort through when I'm searching for a new book.

I like paranormal books, but have a difficult time finding them without werewolves, vampires scary themes. I read a fabulous series several years ago by an author Victoria Danaan called, Midlife at Midnight, about a human woman who inherited a fiefdom she was unaware of. It was quite entertaining.

Those of you who like detective stories, the Women's Murder Club is a good one and he's up to 24 so far. I made it to 16 but it's been a couple of years, so I'm going to have to start over. Oh darn. LOL
I agree Jen!

I read a lot on my Kindle because it is easy to buy books and we don't have big book stores where I live. But if I go into a book store I can spend hours there.

Isabel Allende is one of my favourites too.
Bryony, I live in Israel and read in Spanish...so I buy online...Amazon is the best way for me to buy books; if you like Isabel Allende, you should look for
Marcela Serrano (she is even better), my favorite book she wrote and is called The Retreat for Heartbroken Women
She wrote excellent books...I truly recommend her.

Hi, This year my goal is to read mostly books by Canadian authors.
Closer By Sea - Parry Chafe
Medecine Walk - Richard Wakamese
Never Coming Home - Hannah Mary McKinnon
Twenty-Seven Minutes - Ashley Tate
Bird's Eye View - Elinor Florence
The Grey Wolf - Louise Penny (Oct 24 Release)
Fayne - Ann-Marie MacDonald

I like a wide variety of book genres but favour good detective stories, especially those with British characters and location.

I'm a huge fan of historical fiction and nonfiction. I love when I read a novel that piques my curiosity about an event. Example: I read a fabulous book called The Cold Millions by Jess Walter that had a mention of a catastrophic fire in the U.S. in 1910. This led me to research the fire, and I read a super interesting nonfiction book, The Big Burn, by Timothy Egan. Same thing happened with the Children's Blizzard. I also just love interestingly written books. Right now I'm reading The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store, which I'm enjoying.

I love historical fiction and nonfiction, too. I'll have to check out those that you mentioned. Thanks for sharing!

Hey there everyone! My current read is Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt; it's for my book club. I'm about 2/3 of the way through and can recommend it! It's about a very intelligent octopus in an aquarium who helps the cleaning lady solve a mystery, That's pretty much all I can say about it without giving too much away. :) We read mostly historical fiction in book club, so this is a very appreciated departure from that.

I love Emily Henry too! I have all hers except her newest. I'm waiting for it to come out in paperback before I buy it, though if I read all the stuff I've got on my Kindle quickly enough, I may just go ahead and get the hardcover.

Thanks everyone for their recommendations! I'm definitely going to try some of them out! :)
